Series of issues after app trial ended

I purchased a 2023 Dodge Hornet GT last year and its already been towed twice for a dead battery linked to the emergency vehicle alert software. They replaced the battery the 2nd time. Since then, I've also been having issues with remote start, no exterior lights and the screen saying im in a hybrid when exiting sport mode, even though clearly it's not. The car only has about 5k miles and now the dealer says they need to replace the door locks to fix the remote start. All these problems started after the free trial on the app ended and it did a software update. Thoughts?? Its been such a hassle since then.

@jshaft06 bro, if the dealership isn't connecting the dots to the software update, you need to escalate. Keep detailed records of every visit and what was done. This isn't normal for a new car

This is the main problem with newer cars. They're computers on wheels and a software glitch can cause them go haywire which is a problem for owners. As for your problem, there's absolutely no way to link the trial with everything that's been going on, so your only option is to push the dealership to solve the issue before the warranty is over, which in your case will be in about a year.

Yeah, makes sense. These cars are way too software-dependent now. I get that theres no clear link to the trial, but it still feels like odd timing. Is there a better approach to make sure they take it seriously before the warranty runs out??

That's incredibly frustrating and it's almost certainly related to that software update. The dealer's solution about the door locks for the remote start sounds a little out there, but with these modern cars, sometimes the weirdest things are connected. I'd definitely keep a detailed log of every visit, every fix attempt, and every conversation you have with the dealership. Get a case number from Dodge customer service and reference it every time you talk to the dealership. Also check to see if there's a TSB for any of these issues. Tell them you're aware of the software bugs and want them to escalate the issue to a technical specialist at Dodge corporate. Don't let them string you along with a bunch of random fixes. Good luck, man! Hope you get it sorted soon!
