2025 R/T poor test drive experience

I'm thinking of purchasing a 2025 Dodge Hornet R/T. I'm particularly drawn to the PowerShot feature. So I went to a dealership this weekend to test drive one but to say I didn't have the best experience is even an overstatement!

It was running well except we couldn't switch into sport mode to try the PowerShot. Then we tried another R/T but then random warning lights began to appear maybe 5 minutes into the drive. The 2025 GT doesn't have the PowerShot but I thought I'd give it a try but the poor thing also sent warning lights early in the drive.

All the while, the salesman was just confused and apologetic. Like he doesn't know what what was doing and what was happening. The whole experience felt so terrible, I could also feel sorry for them.

Now, am I just unlucky with the dealership I visited? Or are these red flags telling me to ditch the idea of buying a Hornet? Please, if anyone here owns one, hopefully a 2025 R/T, I'm curious to hear your feedback and experience!

Man, that's rough! I suggest checking with another dealership to see if they had similar issues with the PowerShot. hope you'll have a better experience this time

Checking out a new dealer is a good advice, but there's a little something to keep in mind. I've been poking around communities and this kind of problem isn't an isolated case, there are many who experienced something similar, which is why the extended warranty is so popular with these. The worst part is that it's not the first year of production with R/T and powershot and Dodge should've ironed out the kinks by now.

I'd chalk a lot of that up to a bad dealership experience. My '24 R/T has been good, PowerShot works great once sport mode engages properly. The early cars had some software quirks, but most were fixed with updates. If you like the Hornet, I'd try another dealer before writing it off.
